"Painting brings me great joy, which

I like to share with others through my art."

Growing up in Maryland, Marilyn became interested in art as a teenager. She was inspired by her high school art teacher, Ms. Day, who encouraged her to continue progressing as an artist.

She spent 35 years as a cartographer for the Defense Department in Washington, DC, where she was able to utilize her artistic skills. During those years, she also took painting classes in both acrylic and oil media.

After retiring to Florida, Marilyn enrolled in an ongoing watercolor class with Therese Ferguson and was a member of the Brevard Watercolor Society. Through this organization, she exhibited her work in numerous art shows. She also had the opportunity to study with the internationally recognized artist, Frits Van Eeden, a prolific abstract painter.

Later, after relocating to North Carolina, she began exclusively painting with acrylics. Marilyn has painted under the instruction of Larry Dean of the Sertoma Art Center for a number of years. She shows her paintings locally. In the past, people who have recognized and appreciated her style, have commissioned her art work.
